SAUK Committee

The SAUK Committee has the following positions, elected annually at the AGM (February).

Chairperson: — Rob Milliner

The Chairperson must be selected from the rijikai, and must ensure that the Management Committee functions properly, that there is full participation during meetings, that all relevant matters are discussed and that effective decisions are made and carried out.
Main duties of the Chairperson can be summarised under five areas:

1. To provide leadership.
The overarching role of the chairperson is to provide leadership, they must be an effective strategist and a good networker.
2. To ensure the Management Committee functions properly.
The Chairperson is responsible for making sure that each meeting is planned effectively, conducted according to the constitution and that matters are dealt with in an orderly, efficient manner. The Chairperson must make the most of all his/her committee members, building and leading the team. This also involves regularly reviewing the Committee’s performance.
3. To ensure the organisation is managed effectively.
The Chairperson must co-ordinate the Committee to ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are in place for the effective management of the organisation.
4. To provide support and supervision to the rijikai.
The Chairperson will often be the direct contact for the executive officers of the organisation.
5. To represent the organisation as its figurehead.
The Chairperson may from time to time be called upon to represent the organisation and sometimes be its spokesperson at, for example, functions or meetings.

BAB registrar: — Emma Barnes

The BAB registrar collects the monthly returns for member licensing and yearly venue liability and processes them (sending BAB certificates to clubs and the relevant information to the BAB), and keeps the SAUK membership database up-to-date.

Secretary: — Emma Barnes

The Secretary must attend SAUK/rijikai meetings and take minutes, is responsible for disseminating important information to the membership, and deals with any enquiries from SAUK members and clubs (effectively, the Secretary is the liaison between the SAUK committee and the SAUK membership). Also, the Secretary is responsible for communication between Hombu and SAUK concerning administration tasks, such as sending SAF registration forms, informing SAF about new clubs, requesting SAF registration of SAUK members etc.

Treasurer: — Celine Pagnier

The Treasurer has access to the SAUK accounts, and is responsible for checking if payments have arrived, for making payments, and for compiling a financial report for the SAUK AGM.

Child Protection Officer: — Andy Coggan & Adrian Bush

The Child Protection Officer is the main point of contact concerning the coaching of young people and children, and for any issues surrounding the safeguarding of children. This includes informing the membership about requirements/recommendations for coaching children: safe practice, safe guarding and protecting children courses, and recommendations for training. Also, the CPO deals with DBS checks for SAUK coaches.

Coach Liaison Officer: — Open position, email if interested

The Coach Liaison Officer is responsible for organising BAB coaching courses (levels 1,2, and 3), for distributing BAB coaching certificates to the SAUK membership, and to act as a liaison between SAUK and BAB. Further scope for development of the role could include: increasing the level of coaching in SAUK; organise/encourage Coach the Coaches sessions; and attend CLO annual meetings organised by the BAB.

Events Officer: — Lynne Mayne & Jerome Chin Aleong

The Events Officer is responsible for maintaining the SAUK calendar and sending out news/updates about events. Furthermore, the Events Officer ought to assist in organising national events by contacting relevant individuals and acting as a liaison if necessary.

Gradings Officer: — Mohammad Mani

The Gradings Officer is responsible is responsible for liaising with the grading-hosting clubs to ensure that venues are booked, dates are listed on the SAUK calendar, and that grading paperwork has been sorted.

Promotions Officer: — Open position, email if interested

The Promotions Officer deals with promoting SAUK as an organisation, as well as promoting shodokan aikido in particular and giving a clear image of shodokan.

Web Officer: Tattersall

The Web Officer is responsible for maintaining and updating the SAUK website.
