Shodokan Edinburgh started out life in 1999 as the Heriot-Watt University aikido club. Due to the number of students continuing to train after graduating, and an increase in non-student members, the club was renamed to ‘Shodokan Edinburgh’, and as such is open to anyone to train.
We now have 3 classes a week, all of which are run by the club’s original instructor, Martin Livingston (4th dan).
Edinburgh has hosted numerous national events, including the student nationals competition 4 times, the annual end of year Shodokan national grading, and hosted too many seminars with international instructors to count.
The club can boast having had 4 world champions, with 9 gold medals between them, won in 3 different continents.
Our club website is currently undergoing a face lift, and will be back online very soon…
